11/10/12

Early sun soon turned to cloudy murky skies, a thunderstorm rolled in at the end of the count. code 3 SE winds all day didn't help the waterbird flight.

More CASW!

3 MALL
41 Scaup sp
1 BLSC (a female that spent the day just off the end of the pier)
7 RBME
2 RTLO
6 COLO
5 HOGR
1 RNGR (still here)
2 SAND (getting late)
6 BOGU
1 LBBG (adult)
1 GBBG (adult)

Finches were moving early on, with CORE, PISI, WWCR all represented.

7 CASW were seen today. Three were circling over the base of the pier halfway through the first hour, and likely roosted in the harbor area last night. After 15+ minutes they gained altitude and I lost track of them. In the third hour, four came down the shoreline, circled over the dune and headed south. CASW are listed as casual in MI...but they really don't feel like it anymore.
